Where they are the same

Both are multilayer reflective quilts certified for pitched roofs, walls and floors. Each is certified with its own air-space arrangement — commonly around 25mm on each face, but the two certificates are not identical and the product's own document governs — both use a foil tape system, both are stocked by national merchants and both are fitted by the same installers. For most roofs the finished U-value with either, in the same build-up, is very close.

How to choose

  1. Get the target U-value for your roof from building control or your installer.
  2. Read each product's certificate for the build-up that reaches it.
  3. Pick whichever your installer has fitted most often. Familiarity with the tape and detailing beats a few points of thermal resistance.

Questions homeowners ask

Can I mix SuperFOIL and SuperQuilt on one roof?
You can, but use each product's own tape and keep to one certified build-up per roof so building control can check it.
