The InsulationMatch installation standard

Insulation installation should be approached as a complete building detail rather than simply as a product purchase. This is the process every project is run against and every installer agrees to.

Before work

Where relevant, the survey and specification consider:

  • existing construction
  • roof and loft condition
  • ventilation
  • moisture
  • existing insulation
  • access
  • services
  • intended room or loft use
  • system specification, with the product certificate and target U-value stated

During work

Recorded where appropriate, in photographs and notes:

  • product and system
  • build-up
  • joints
  • fixing
  • tapes
  • interfaces with walls, dormers and eaves
  • penetrations
  • ventilation routes
  • relevant air gaps

Completion

Retained for every project:

  • completion photographs
  • project information
  • product information where applicable
  • customer handover notes
  • issue and escalation record if required

What every installer agrees to

Before joining

  • Public liability insurance of at least £2 million, evidenced and kept current
  • Registered with a relevant competent person or certification scheme for the measures they quote, and scheme-registered where funded work is offered
  • A trading history we can verify and trade references checked
  • No unresolved adverse findings with Trading Standards or the Advertising Standards Authority

Every quote must

  • State the area in m², the materials, thicknesses and the U-value the build-up achieves
  • Show the ventilation strategy for any roof or floor work
  • State whether the work is notifiable and who handles building control
  • Include a written workmanship guarantee and the relevant product or scheme guarantee
  • Be free, in writing and valid for at least 30 days

Conduct

  • Contact the homeowner about their enquiry only; no unrelated marketing
  • No pressure tactics, no same-day-only pricing, no claims about grant eligibility that have not been verified
  • Recommend the cheaper material where it does the same job
  • Respond to a matched enquiry within two working days
