Knighton, Evington and the Oadby–Wigston suburbs add the inter-war semis.
Leicester's housing and what it means for insulation
Leicester's red-brick Victorian terraces — Highfields, Belgrave, Clarendon Park, Westcotes — make up a large share of the city, most with solid walls and back-addition roofs. Inter-war semis fill Evington, Knighton and Braunstone; post-war estates ring the city; Oadby and Wigston add later suburban stock.
Typical Leicester enquiries

- Inter-war semi loft rooms in Knighton and Evington
- Loft floor upgrades in post-war estates
- Roof-level insulation during re-roofing

Older Leicester terraces: shallow rafters and back additions
Clarendon Park and Westcotes terraces are tall, with steep roofs and back additions, and the loft room usually has to work around a rear roof at a different pitch.
Older roofs can have significantly less usable insulation depth than modern constructions. Rafter dimensions, underlay type, ventilation and any rear or addition roof must therefore be checked at the property before a multifoil or hybrid build-up is specified. Where depth is limited, the usual investigation is multifoil under the rafters with battens forming the room-side air space; where a target U-value applies, PIR between the rafters is added. The party-wall junction and any existing damp staining decide whether the job is straightforward.
Coverage around Leicester
Assessment and installation are allocated by postcode and project type across Leicester and these surrounding areas:
We also cover Nottingham, Derby, Northampton and the rest of the East Midlands.
How it works, briefly
Postcode → property questions → assessment where a physical inspection is needed → recommendation → fixed quote → installation. Every step runs to the InsulationMatch installation standard; the installing company is named on the quote. Multifoil itself is explained in the multifoil guide, and what moves a price in the cost guide. Local ranges are published here only once genuine Leicester quotes exist.
Local projects
Documented Leicester projects are added to the project library as they complete. Until then the library's typical project scenarios show how the housing above is assessed.
